Exotic pets need routines too

6 min read · General information, not veterinary advice

Many health problems in reptiles, small mammals, birds and fish start quietly: a bulb that stopped giving off UVB, a humidity drop, a rabbit that hasn’t eaten. They rarely show obvious signs until they’re serious. That’s why small, regular checks matter more for these animals than for almost any other pet.

Reptiles: light, heat and humidity

Rabbits and guinea pigs: hay, always

Birds: food, water and fresh air

Fish: the water is the patient

How Arch-Pet helps

When you add an exotic pet, Arch-Pet sets up a daily checklist for that species (UVB and heat checks, misting, hay and water, droppings) and reminders such as UVB bulb replacement. Reptile owners can log habitat temperature and humidity, sheds and diet, and the care guides cover each species’ basics.

This article is general information. Exotic animals often need a vet with specific experience, so find one before you need them.
